Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley 2013
A warm, dry spring brought early bud break in 2013; we experienced ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. With the exception of one heat spike in late June/early July, temperatures were consistently in the zone for optimal vine activity. Early ripening varietals came off the vines by early September, with perfect ripeness and ideal hang time. Two brief mid-September rains had virtually no impact, as sunny weather dried the grapes almost immediately. Cool, sunny weather throughout October allowed great flavor development. Overall, the 2013 harvest was early, even and excellent.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine were grown in the Truchard Vineyard in the Carneros region of Napa Valley and the Nichelini Vineyard in Napa’s Chiles Valley.. The vineyard blocks were harvested at full ripeness with good acid balance.
Our Rosé is made in the saignée method, by "bleeding" juice from our Cabernet Sauvignon tanks prior to fermentation. The juice, pink in color due to its minimal skin contact, is inoculated and fermented to dryness in stainless steel. Prior to bottling, the wine received minimal filtration and fining to preserve the fresh fruit flavors.
Perfect for spring and summer sipping, this crisp, fragrant Rosé features fresh strawberry, rose and hibiscus aromas that are mirrored on the palate. With its dry finish and balanced acidity, this Rosé is perfectly suited for al fresco dining and lighter fare.
